I must admit to private feelings of guilt over the fact that I have not articulated Ann Estelle - I've done Sophie, Michael, Sue Lin (born a Linda McCall) and Annie Laurie - but not the Queen of Everything Herself!
But now that omission has been omitted and Ann Estelle stands before you on her Tonner legs with a pair of Customhouse Petite Ai arms!!!
Those of you who share a certain "maturity" (and geographical background) with me may remember a "classic" print ad campaign for Maidenform brassieres - the "I dreamed I was a ______ (fill in the blank) in my Maidenform bra" series. Models appeared in such unlikely places as a bull ring, waiting for a bull fight, dressed in matador pants, hat and a Maidenform bra.
So this is why this post is titled "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" - the newly articulated Ann Estelle "dreamed she was Evita in her Tonner onesie and bunny slippers". And we leave her still practicing the upraised-arms-on-the-balcony scene in the spot-light in Joe Pye Towers.
Sudha and Annie Laurie have been working so hard all summer on their broadband project that I arranged a surprise for them - I sent them and several Firefly friends on a camping trip in the north woods - an end-of-summer party. Here is a picture of them bird watching - still lots of migrant warblers moving through the woods (but yes, they are hard to identify!)
Here's a still shot. I just wish you could see their eyes sparkling in the firelight!
Please check out the Tonner blog: "In conjunction with the celebration of its 150 Anniversary, today the world-famous toy store [FAO Schwarz] unveiled a walk-around gallery showcasing a collection of stylish dolls from the Tonner Doll Company timed to coincide with Fashion Week in New York City."
Great to see Ann Estelle (in two of my all-time favorite outfits) with furniture and toys in one of the pictures. (I'd copy it here except I'm not sure if the picture is "owned" by Tonner or by FAO Schwarz/Toys 'R Us). (Note to blog editors - the correct spelling is "Engelbreit" - looks like FAO Schwarz got it correct but not whoever labeled the picture. I can sympathize - "Schwarz" always wanted to be something else each time I've typed it here!!!) R.
We at The Life & Times of Ann Estelle (or L&To'AE to close friends) are putting together the be-all, end-all guide to finding furniture for ten inch dolls! Since we never do anything in a slipshod manner, it is taking time. So just to wet your appetite, here's a picture for the guide that I just took.
This is meant to show a couple of the pieces from the Angelina Ballerina line, but I think what it really shows is poor Cinderella, living with her evil mouse stepmother, doing all the baking (on a wood stove, for which she chops all the firewood) and then having to wash ALL these dirty dishes in the sink!! When will her prince come?????
Enjoy, R (and don't worry, we'll let you know when the furniture page[s] go "up".)
Please check out the "about us" pages to find out who's really typing these words.
