Mimi, the perpetually surprised or the perpetually singing, has received a face-lift, using techniques learned from Dianna Effner's tutelage. I'm so embarrassed now over my original face-up (of seven years ago) that I won't even make a before and after picture (although you can find some befores if you search "Mimi" in the blog.) The difference boils down to using acrylic paints highly diluted instead of at from-the-tube thickness. It never even occurred to me before learning from Dianna that one could use acrylic paints this way on a 3-D surface (which isn't really surprising, since I've never had basic art training.) The other big step forward in this technique is the glaze that is used on the irises of the eyes to give them sparkle.
So this is Mimi's "oh, chicks come from EGGS!!!!" moment of discovery. R.
