Pootin' LOVES eatin' Peeps ......
Pootin' and I are going Easter egg huntin'!!!
Good thing too, since Pootin's been spending all winter on his rear, playing with his sock puppets - we NEED to get outside!!
Aren't these flowers pretty?? And they smell good too. R calls them Bluets.
Wow, Pootin' is really getting excited about hunting eggs .... and they are all over the place!!
The basket is getting too heavy for me to lift.
More pretty flowers!
So here we are resting and checking out all the eggs we've found. Thanks Easter Bunny!! Suddenly we both heard SOMETHING ......
Yes, the sound of Peeps bugling!!!
Pootin' LOVES eatin' Peeps ......
Since I know some of you are highly sensitive about such things, I'll spare you the gory details, but suffice it to say, I've never seen Pootin' move so fast!!!!
Yep, fresh Peep is mighty good eating!!
(R here: While yes, it is true one Peep was "harmed" to bring you this story, please be aware that there are still other Peeps lurking in the forest and the song of the Peep still can be heard in all its phonic sweetness.)
Been kinda cold, quiet and boring around here lately. And then Auntie Anne sent a new supply of the sooper dooper magic purple powder and I've been having fun!!! You remember the magic purple powder, right??
You just take a little in your hand ......
.... and sprinkle it liberally on something that you want to make bigger and .....
...... TAH DAH!!!!!
OK, so hey, let's try this on Beary!
Isn't this great??!!! BIG friends to play with!!!
You know, I've still got a lot of powder in the jar and I can't see any reason why I shouldn't make Beary even bigger. Can you?
Hummm ...... maybe I made him a leetle bit too big .........
Pootin' and I went for a safari this afternoon. I was "hunting" butterflies. Pootin' was looking for mushmellows.
We neither of us caught anything, but it was nice to be out in the great outdoors.
But what a great thing is was that I was wearing my lily-orange hat and shoes because ...
..... the native Carolina Lilies are in bloom!!!! So here is a picture of us lily sisters, Lily Robgoblin and Lily Carolina, together at Lilyhill!!!! (Yes, you botanists might think these are tiger lilies or Turk's Cap Lilies but they are Lilium michauxii.)
We've been getting a fair amount of rain in the last couple of weeks and it has brought a lot of mushrooms into "bloom". The squirrels chew on a lot of them, so I can't get good pictures. But here's one massive one that the squirrels have left standing (probably because it is poisonous to an extreme?)
Huge, isn't it?! I wanted to take some measurements and Pootin' said he'd help but ....
.... he didn't grasp the concept that the tape measure wasn't meant for a game of tug!!
Hah hah - I'm King of the Mushroom I'm King of the Mushroom!!!!
Here's another interesting one on the way home .... kind of a creepy color. Come to think of it, it kind of looks like vinyl-doll-flesh color, doesn't it??!! Hundreds of little pink dolly fingers??
Claudia asked about getting a DNA test for Pootin'. I asked WeDoDNA about it and they said that no one has sequenced any dragon DNA and thus they don't do dragons. Pootin' did say that he remembered one of his granny-dragons telling him a story about an uncle that he thinks was named Poofin', so maybe that's your answer Claudia?
So there we were, together in the cave, and you got frightened and ran away leaving me with ..... something with eyes that glowed red in the dark. Did anyone care??? Did anyone want to know if I ever came out of the cave??? Nooooo, just "ho hum, goodbye Lily" to you, I guess!!! WELL!!!
Here's the rest of the story, for anyone who cares .....
It's me!! I'm a dragon. My name is Pootin'. And it's too dark here in this cave. I'm coming out into the sunshine. Now!
Adragonadragonadragon!!!!!!!! I've been wanting to meet a dragon!!!!
Hum ... a tad fierce, but nothing that a little snack won't fix ......
See, we both love mushmellows!! Anything made out of mushrooms is great, but especially mushmellows! Pootin' and me are friends forever now!!!
And here is our obligatory, slightly out-of-focus selfie. What blog is complete without a selfie or two???
Today I decided to go back and try looking around those cliffs and caves I saw a while back.
So far so good .....
Well .... this is kind of hard work!!! Ow!! I just banged my knee! If these rocks were magnetized, this would be a lot easier!
But it's worth it - the view from here is great!
See, I was right - there IS a cave here!!!!
Oh come on! Don't be afraid - I'll hold your hand if you want.
Is this ace or what??!!!!
Is that you over there to the right?? I thought you were right behind me .... It's not you, is it??
It's me .......
Part of the reason that I've come to this part of the woods is to meet a person that I share DNA with .... yes, I sent a sample of spit to WeDoDNA.com and the results suggested that I have several close relatives living in the area. It took me a while to decide that I really did want to meet this person ..... relatives can be funny things y' know ..... love 'em or hate 'em!!! But my curiosity overcame me so we arranged to meet today at my camp.
That she is a lot bigger than me doesn't surprise me too much (lots of things are bigger than me) but THIS I wasn't prepared for .....
She has FOUR legs and two arms!!! And a TAIL!!! (I've always wanted a tail.)
Meet Rowena, my distant cousin. I guess this might explain why WeDoDNA also suggested that I was distantly related to Pegasus. Well, it's a good thing I sent home for my fancy threads, since Rowena seems a bit regal and obviously likes to show the bling!
Here I am showing her my wagon and introducing ABC (who doesn't know what to think.)
Time for tea.
Well, after the initial stiffness of meeting a new relative, we hit it off fine. It turns out we both have a lot of relatives in Korea. And best of all Rowena told me that she has seen dragons in this part of the woods. Whoops, did I saw "dragons"?? I meant to say that she has seen a lot of mushrooms in this part of the woods. And I eventually got up the nerve to ask her if her WeDoDNA results showed that she was related to a lot of bugs (she has six "legs" after all) and she just laughed!
We had our family portrait taken!
(Gee, I wish I'd gotten some of her pretty genes and some of her long hair genes!!)
I've set up camp in this interesting spot.
Kind of looks like Thorin Oakenshield's type of landscape, doesn't it??
I found a new hat - parts of last year's wasp nest. ABC, ever the critic, say that maybe it's a tad too small for me. It smells a little funny too .....
Here is one of the neighbors - a dragon fly. And someone may live in that hollow log - but we haven't met yet.
And a big birdie on her nest, just like my own little birdie!!
Yep, this is a good camp!
ABC and I are off on our big adventure!! Here is a picture of when we left home - Miz Mousie came to wave goodbye. (I'm letting Miz Mousie stay in Calcrit House while I'm gone - she's happy as a clam! But was a little sad to see us leave, just a little.)
Passing by Lake Petway ...
Listen to the birds singing! I'm going to sing too!
"Where am I goin'? I don't know!
Where am I headin'? I ain't certain!
All I know is I am on my way.
When will I be there? I don't know!
When will I get there? I ain't certain!
All that I know is I am on my way.
Gotta dream boy, gotta song!
Paint your wagon and come along!!"
(Alan J. Lerner)
Wow, the first bridge ..... to somewhere!! And yes, we're off the ground here, even though it is kind of hard to see in the photo .... ABC has gone topside to keep an eye on things and tell me if there's anything I need to watch out for. Dalrymple is a trooper and doesn't mind bridges at all!
Here's the view from the bridge.
Ah, the open road!!! What a great start to my journey! Are you coming too??
Is this great or WHAT??!!!! This is the right side ....
Here's the back door.
Left side. Essentially I painted everything except the unstained wood and the things already painted yellow - and I painted the wheel spokes yellow. And I stenciled those nifty flowers on the wall panels (the dark blue is called "Beethoven Blue"!)
Front side - this is where I'll sit when I'm driving!
I sing the song of the wayfarer!!!!
This is Dalrymple who will provide the horse power.
Want to see more of the inside?
OK, I took the roof off temporarily so you big people could see in. I magnetized this side piece so it goes up and down really nicely. And I put in a metal floor which is very comfortable for my magnetic shoes!
All the comforts of home - that table top under the window flips up to become my sink.
This book will be of great assistance in my mushroom studies. Plus, it is so big and so heavy that if I ever get caught in a gale, I'll just hold on to it and won't get swept away.
Another view of the left side.
Wait a minute Lily, is that a picture of a dragon hanging on the right wall?
It is a picture of a dragon! Why is there a picture of a dragon inside your wagon?? Lily, you're not going looking for dragons, are you????
Heavens, what a fuss!!! I can have a picture or two of dragons in my wagon, can't I??
Just as soon as I gather a few more supplies, I'll be off on my mushroom hunting expedition!!! I can't wait!!!!!!
Lily Robgoblin, fairy spirit extraordinaire, friend to crickets, lover of mushrooms, much more interesting than any mere over-sized doll, I'll have you know!
